Dead Wood

Woman staring up at the sky with a sad expression lying on a bed of leaves and clutching her hand to a wound on her abdomen.

Dead Wood is a song written and performed by Rosanne Erskine for her deeply personal and haunting debut solo album Cold Sun.

Produced by Saleem Andrew McGroaty, the album and the accompanying film were released by Ramrock Records on June 10th 2022.

Rosanne commissioned Earthing Productions to make the film after reading their treatment that unintentionally interlocked the writers’ experiences of grief, escape and transformation with those portrayed in Rosanne’s song.

The project was shot on the East Lothian coastline, under the sustainable principles established by Earthing Project. The site was litter picked before and after the shoot and no trace was left on the site.

The film was funded by Creative Scotland’s Open Fund and is a co-production between Earthing Productions and Rosanne Erskine.
